About The Position

The Energy Procurement Lead will own Rowan’s retail energy procurement and customer-facing energy contracting strategy, with primary responsibility for executing Energy Service Agreements (ESAs) with hyperscale customers and aligning Rowan’s supply portfolio to customer carbon-free energy goals, cost, and risk requirements. This role is externally facing and execution-driven, working directly with customer energy teams to structure, negotiate, and manage retail energy contracts—including sleeved wholesale power, retail-delivered carbon-free energy, renewables, and related sustainability products—while ensuring alignment with Rowan-executed supply contracts. The Energy Procurement lead will also set Rowan’s carbon free energy procurement strategy in partnership with internal energy strategy regional leads, utilities, and suppliers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years negotiating retail energy agreements and energy service agreements.
  • Direct experience working with hyperscalers and large load customers on complex, multi-party energy transactions.
  • Deep familiarity with retail power markets, sleeving structures, and commercial energy arrangements.
  • Experience sourcing and evaluating nuclear, renewable, BESS, and other carbon-free energy products.
  • Experience leading complex negotiations with customers and presentations with senior executives.

Responsibilities

  • Own negotiation and execution of customer Energy Service Agreements (ESAs) and related leasing frameworks with hyperscale customers.
  • Replicate and standardize ESA structures across customers and sites, ensuring consistency with Rowan supply contracts and customer expectations.
  • Serve as primary commercial interface with customer energy teams for retail energy procurement in partnership with Business Development.
  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and execution of retail energy contracts, including Index and block retail supply, sleeved wholesale power, retail-delivered carbon-free energy, wind and solar PPAs, unbundled RECs and other sustainability attributes.
  • Own RFPs and bilateral procurement negotiations aligned with customer sustainability goals, procurement standards, and regulatory constraints.
  • Evaluate suppliers, structures, and markets in partnership with Energy Strategy regional leads, Sites Origination teams, and Finance.
  • Own ongoing management of customer-aligned energy contracts, including renewals, amendments, compliance, and performance tracking.
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Sustainability, and Engineering to ensure contracts are standardized, auditable, and scalable.
