Purpose of Role The Energy Operations Intern supports daily trade monitoring, reconciliation, and validation across power, natural gas, and renewable markets. The role assists with resolving trade discrepancies, maintaining operational tools, and preparing reports that enhance accuracy and workflow efficiency. By working closely with risk, compliance, and middle‑office teams, the intern helps ensure regulatory adherence and operational integrity.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration is preferred but finance is accepted.
  • Genuine interest in one or more of the program’s departmental tracks.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship, including, but not limited to, F-1, J-1, and M-1 visa holders, as well as individuals on CPT or OPT.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily monitoring and reconciliation of energy trade activity across power, natural gas, and renewable markets to ensure accurate and timely settlement.
  • Support the operations team with validating trade confirmations, reviewing counterparty data, and resolving discrepancies in coordination with traders and risk management.
  • Conduct research and help prepare operational reports, dashboards, and market summaries to support decision‑making within Energy Operations.
  • Help maintain and enhance internal tracking tools, trade capture systems, and process documentation to improve workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate with compliance and middle‑office teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, reporting deadlines, and internal controls.
  • Participate in ad‑hoc operational projects, including data clean‑ups, system testing, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze energy market data to identify operational risks, trends, or exceptions and escalate findings to senior team members.
