BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION: The P SF FORECASTING Department of the P INTEGRATED GRID PLANNING Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: Professional) This posting seeks to fill at either the Energy Forecaster or Senior Energy Forecaster; whichever level is most suited to the qualifications of the applying candidate. ENERGY FORECASTER JOB FUNCTION: Participates in the energy planning and analytics efforts related to the development of the energy and demand forecasts for Oahu, Hawaii Island and Maui County grids to support strategic and operational planning initiatives. Provides technical support with expanded assignments in the Company's corporate planning initiatives and policies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plans, designs, and provides substantive direction for developing the energy and demand forecast and planning initiatives that support strategic areas of focus for the Company. Develops load forecasts to support generation, transmission and distribution planning. Independently carries out complex assignments resulting in the development of new or improved techniques, procedures, and risk assessment. Plans, designs, develops, specifies, and coordinates analysis surrounding changes in the structure of the energy industry and anticipates resulting impacts on the Company's systems from external demand and supply side technologies. Identifies the need for and designs, coordinates, and implements, studies to support models and framework for forecasting consumer demand, sales, and revenue. Performs hindsight metrics of forecast performance and makes recommendations to improve overall forecasting capabilities. Provides training as appropriate. Manages and coordinates planning work with operations, planning, finance, and other areas of the Companies. Creates, develops, and/or delivers expert testimony, responses to informational requests, and other assignments supporting rate case and resource planning projects before various external agencies such as the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission, Public Advisory Groups, and various community groups. Assists with negotiations among the parties in the proceedings if settlement is a desired outcome. Develops, modifies, tests, implements, documents, and operates complex technical statistical/scientific/engineering algorithms supporting energy and demand modeling including load profiles by end use, class of service, system, or other defined user segments. Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response. SENIOR ENERGY FORECASTER JOB FUNCTION: Leads the energy planning and analyses efforts related to the development of the energy and demand forecasts for Oahu, Hawaii Island and Maui County grids to support strategic and operational planning initiatives. Spearhead technical assignments and support in the Company’s corporate planning initiatives and policies. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plans, designs, and provides substantive direction for developing the energy and demand forecast and planning initiatives that support strategic areas of focus for the Company. Develops load forecasts to support generation, transmission and distribution planning for Oahu, Maui County, and Hawaii island grids. Independently carries out complex assignments resulting in the development of new or improved techniques, procedures, and risk assessment. Plans, designs, develops, specifies, and coordinates analysis surrounding changes in the structure of the energy industry and anticipates resulting impacts on the Company’s systems from external demand and supply side technologies. Assists with negotiations among the parties in the proceedings if settlement is a desired outcome. Develops, modifies, tests, implements, documents, and operates complex technical statistical/scientific/engineering algorithms supporting energy and demand modeling including load profiling by end use, class of service, system, or other defined user segments.
