About The Position

Arcadis is the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets. We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world’s most complex challenges and deliver more impact together. Role description: We are seeking a dynamic Energy Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical engineering and client consulting. As a key member of our Energy and Carbon Advisory Practice, you will deliver feasibility, energy efficiency, and decarbonization studies: enabling clients to significantly reduce operational costs and enhance the performance of their assets. You will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, support energy optimization and embodied carbon assessments, and provide actionable advisory services that maximize both economic and environmental outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Energy, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5–8 years’ experience in energy auditing for commercial, industrial, datacenter, or other complex building types.
  • Advanced skills in energy & CFD simulation/modeling tools (e.g., EnergyPlus, DesignBuilder/Studio, IES VE, ANSYS).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and technical analysis software.
  • Strong technical knowledge of MEP, HVAC, controls, and lighting systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for clients.
  • Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to work independently, proactively identify opportunities, and take ownership of tasks without requiring close supervision. Consulting mindset with proven client-facing experience and a strong command of the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retro-commissioning, renewable energy, decarbonization, electrification, or net zero initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform embodied carbon and lifecycle assessments (LCA) for buildings and products.
  • Professional credentials (PE, CEM, CEA, BEMP, or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Energy & Water Audits: Lead comprehensive audits, energy modeling & simulations, and MEP assessments for commercial, industrial, data centers, institutional, and multifamily buildings.
  • Analyze & Benchmark: Evaluate utility data to identify energy and GHG usage patterns, performing benchmarking and best practice analysis.
  • Identify Efficiency Opportunities: Assess building envelopes, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and control systems to recommend energy, water, and GHG reduction strategies that directly lower OPEX.
  • Perform Calculations & Modeling: Execute energy calculations, simulations, cost-benefit/ROI analyses, and support feasibility studies focused on operational savings.
  • Lifecycle & Embodied Carbon Assessment: Apply embodied carbon and lifecycle assessment (LCA) methodologies to construction materials and products, supporting holistic sustainability and cost reduction.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure all work aligns with relevant codes and ASHRAE standards (90.1, 62, 55).
  • Client-Facing Consulting: Prepare technical reports, deliver presentations, and communicate findings to clients in a clear, consultative manner.
  • Collaborate & Enable: Work closely with clients and internal teams to open doors for further design, engineering, and project management work.
