About The Position

Altanova is actively seeking a Building Performance Associate to join our real estate group in New York, NY. This position is ideal for junior to mid-level candidates who possess a background in mechanical engineering, energy, building technology, or related sciences. We are particularly interested in candidates who are passionate about sustainability in the built environment and are eager to contribute to innovative projects that make a positive impact on our world. As a Building Performance Associate, you will be an essential member of an interdisciplinary team dedicated to leveraging innovative design and technologies to enhance sustainability in the built environment. You will gain exposure to a diverse range of projects, including institutional, commercial, and residential buildings. Your work will encompass quantitative analyses such as energy and carbon emissions calculations, thermal comfort analysis, life cycle cost analysis (LCCA), and life cycle assessment (LCA). Additionally, you will be involved in the development of whole-building energy and performance models that inform sustainable building design and retrofit strategies. Your responsibilities will also include conducting site surveys, auditing, commissioning, retro-commissioning, and monitoring and verification to ensure real-life performance aligns with design expectations. You will provide certification support for various sustainability standards, including the Living Building Challenge, PHIUS, and LEED. Furthermore, you will offer technical assistance to ensure compliance with energy codes, local government regulations, funding requirements, and incentive programs such as NYSERDA and NYC HPD. Researching new technologies and processes will also be a key part of your role, allowing you to stay at the forefront of energy efficiency advancements.
