About The Position
The Energy Conservation Specialist plays a vital role in promoting energy efficiency and sustainability by conducting energy audits for residential properties. This position is essential in identifying energy-saving opportunities, coordinating weatherization efforts, and facilitating communication between homeowners, tenants, and contractors. The specialist will support government compliance, maintain client records, and contribute to the overall mission of promoting a more sustainable environment. In this role, the Energy Conservation Specialist will conduct Department of Energy and utility company energy audits, which include performing heat loss calculations, blower door tests, and combustion efficiency tests. The specialist will also inspect heating systems and burner codes to ensure safety and compliance. Estimating job costs, calculating attic and wall insulation square footage, and determining attic ventilation requirements are also key responsibilities. The specialist will evaluate heating system efficiency, perform carbon monoxide testing, and adhere to A.S.H.R.A.E. ventilation standards. Additionally, conducting blower door and zonal pressure testing is part of the job. The Energy Conservation Specialist will allocate job assignments to contractors on a rotational basis and act as a liaison between property owners and tenants to assist in completing support documents. Maintaining accurate client files to track progress and ensure compliance is crucial. The specialist will perform on-site inspections and quality control visits as needed and accompany officials on on-site visits. Attendance at training programs as required is also expected.
