The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the lead stewardship agency for the protection of North Carolina's environmental resources, providing science-based environmental stewardship for the health and prosperity of all North Carolinians. The DEQ administers regulatory programs for air and water quality, public health, and works to advance an all-of-the-above energy strategy. The State Energy Office, a division of DEQ, serves as the agent for energy planning and program development, ensuring a sustainable energy future for North Carolina residents. This office provides services and technical expertise on energy efficiency, encourages the growth of the state's energy economy, and works to increase the use of renewable energy and alternative fuels. It also supports energy efficiency in public buildings and provides educational opportunities for various entities. This specific position is a time-limited, full-time role within the DEQ State Energy Office. It focuses on ensuring proper, effective, and compliant energy conservation measures are employed by subgrantees of the IIJA Weatherization Assistance Program in the homes of low-income citizens that are weatherized. This specialized professional work involves administering, monitoring, and inspecting energy conservation efforts, as well as providing training to subgrantees to ensure efficient and effective weatherization work.
