About The Position

Through the Energy Department, Housing Assistance Corporation helps Income Eligible homeowners and renters across the Cape and Islands reduce their utility costs by conducting energy audits, weatherizing homes, updating appliances, and repairing or replacing heating systems. The role of the Energy Auditor is to conduct comprehensive energy audits for income eligible residents within our service area, accurately record and enter data into a variety of databases, coordinate with contractors and admin staff, relay information to admin staff, and perform final inspections of completed work.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a Background Check and 4 Panel Drug Test (excludes cannabis)
  • Professional demeaner
  • Professional phone manner
  • Professional and practical dress for visiting clients’ homes, including unfinished areas. This includes closed toe non-slip shoes, durable pants/shorts, and HAC branded shirts/jackets.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Must work independently in a team environment
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with admin staff, field staff, and contractors.

  • Building Science, Weatherization, or Construction background.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive Energy Audits in single family and multifamily homes.
  • Scope work for weatherization and air sealing in attics, basements, exterior walls, and crawlspaces.
  • Perform Heating System Combustion Tests and identify systems for replacement.
  • Perform blower door and zonal pressure tests.
  • Identify windows eligible for replacement.
  • Identify major barriers to weatherization work.
  • Identify qualifying appliances to be replaced.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and admin staff in a timely manner.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including receiving all appropriate client signatures and filling client leave-behind forms, in the prescribed timeframe.
  • Accurately and completely enter relevant data into a variety of programs.
  • Add relevant notes to client files.
  • Upload pictures to SharePoint.
  • Communicate with Weatherization Program Coordinator, Heating System Program Coordinator, and Data Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Paperwork days to be taken in-office.
  • Perform Quality Control Inspections to ensure work is done to program standards.
  • Immediately report any issues with work to the Director of Energy and Weatherization Program Coordinator.
  • Meet contractors at client homes to perform In Process Quality Control Inspections.
  • Meet with local, state, and federal inspectors at customer homes for additional oversight.
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and admin staff.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including receiving all appropriate client signatures.
  • Communicate completed work to the Finance Coordinator, Data Coordinator, and Weatherization Program Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Attending meetings, training courses, and conferences as required.
  • Continued professional development and advancement of BPI / other Certifications
  • Ability to adapt to changing Program Requirements and Guidelines.
  • Respond to No Heat Emergencies during Heating Season, potentially in the evenings and weekends.
