POSITION SUMMARY : The Energy Assistance Specialist will provide program support in all phases of the program operation and provide client services as needed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Become familiar with rules and guidelines pertaining to services provided through various programs and determine potential eligibility Become familiar with area resources in order to provide referrals Serve as an advocate for the customer Complete the Basic Intake Form to initiate all services Set up each new client's profile in the data base software (Currently CAP60) Update client's information in the data base software following each visit Provide services within the framework of ROMA (Results Oriented Management and Accountability) Enter personal time worked in the Automated Time Keeping system (Currently Employee Web Services) Attend staff meetings, workshops and training events as required Perform other tasks as deemed necessary Client Services: Calculate income eligibility, obtain required documentation and complete applications Review all applications for completeness and accuracy Submit applications to the Central Office weekly Obligate energy funds for payment on client's utility bills Maintain record of obligated funds vs. budgeted funds; report balances as needed Take applications over the phone from individuals if needed Provide information to clients over the phone, including calculating income eligibility Attend meetings as required by funding agencies and other meetings as required Continue professional development by participating in education courses, attending workshops and seminars, reading current materials, and working with consultants.
