About the position

The Energy Accounting Supervisor is responsible for managing and administering the Cooperative's energy-related customer service, accounting, and audit functions. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of energy transactions and financial records while supporting the strategic objectives of the energy business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold the Cooperative's Mission, Vision, and Values through effective leadership and collaboration.
  • Manage all energy accounting operations, including billing, payables, inventory, taxation, audits, and purchasing, with a strong focus on accuracy and fiscal accountability.
  • Maintain and enhance energy accounting systems to support operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal sales, use, and motor fuel tax regulations.
  • Perform monthly inventory valuations, adjustments, and shrink reconciliations by location.
  • Verify vendor pricing and ensure accurate, timely customer billing and recordkeeping.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead, train, and develop energy administrative staff, setting clear expectations and fostering a culture of accountability, adaptability, and teamwork.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams and external partners, demonstrating strong business acumen and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Delegate responsibilities appropriately to maximize team effectiveness and support organizational goals.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and execute special projects as assigned.
  • Promote a safe work environment and encourage continuous learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Associate degree with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • At least four years of experience in accounting and supervising a team.
  • Ag retail and/or Energy business experience preferred.
  • Ability to learn multiple software programs, proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Valid Driver's License.
