About The Position

The Energy Accounting Analyst Associate at American Electric Power is an entry-level position focused on the technical duties related to the management and validation of metered data within the Transmission System. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to resolve discrepancies, ensuring accurate data submission to RTOs, and maintaining communication regarding system issues. This position is essential for supporting the integrity of market submissions and load accounting processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Business; OR Associate's Degree and two years of relevant experience with Transmission or RTO Settlements or performing statistical and data analysis.
• Entry-level experience in data analysis and statistics.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to MV90 Xi, Business Objects, RTO markets, and/or analytic software such as SAS.

Responsibilities

• Update the Load Accounting System of Record tool to accurately represent the Transmission System.
• Work with counterparties to agree on interconnected meter data.
• Estimate or find alternative data sources for suspect data values.
• Provide required reports using in-house tools and business objects.
• Validate and lock down meter data values after month-end.
• Use meter reading software to interrogate data on the AEP Transmission System.
• Perform validation checks on data and fill in gaps with estimated data.
• Work with meter technicians to resolve field issues.
• Monitor changes to the Transmission System and adjust accounts accordingly.
• Provide billing quality data to wholesale customers and troubleshoot issues.
• Assist in the setup of new meters on the Transmission System.
• Review and submit data to RTOs using in-house tools.
• Perform validation checks between AEP internal data, third-party data, and RTO data.
• Provide monthly reconciliation data and develop an understanding of RTO markets.
