Summary Functions as a member GI team by assisting the physician and team with all procedures, decontaminating all equipment, and preparing procedure rooms for procedures. Understands procedures, positioning of patients, and decontamination standards; works well in a fast-paced patient centered environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Ability to accept and adapt to change and recognizes differences among people.
  • Demonstrates competency utilizing various technologies, equipment, and supplies to safely provide patient care.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to function independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to care for patients, utilizing a developmental perspective.
  • Excellent computer skills, EMR, word processing and Excel.
  • Knowledge of endoscopy equipment and how to perform decontamination procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of decontamination of GI scopes and equipment.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association Upon Hire

  • 1 year experience in health care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with GI procedures.
  • Completes vital signs on patients and checks for height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and pain screening.
  • Functions as a member of the care delivery team to assist the provider and nurse.
  • Identifies actual or potential patient risks and communicates those risks to the licensed nurse or provider.
  • Performs clerical and front end functions to support patient care delivery.
  • Problem solves, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
