PURPOSE The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting in endoscopic procedures, ensuring the proper functioning and sterilization of endoscopic equipment, and providing patient care before, during, and after procedures. This role involves working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient operations in the endoscopy suite. RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with Endoscopic Procedures Prepare the endoscopy room and equipment for procedures. Assist physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures. Monitor and record patients' vital signs during procedures. Maintain and Sterilize Equipment Clean and sterilize endoscopic equipment according to protocols. Ensure all equipment is functioning properly before use. Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and sterilization. Provide Patient Care Transport patients to and from the endoscopy suite. Provide pre- and post-procedure care instructions to patients. Assist with patient positioning and comfort during procedures. Manage Inventory and Supplies Monitor inventory levels of endoscopic supplies and reorder as needed. Ensure proper storage and handling of supplies. Maintain an organized and well-stocked endoscopy suite. Ensure Compliance with Safety Standards Adhere to infection control and safety protocols. Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives. Stay updated on advancements in endoscopic technology and procedures.
