An endoscopy technician, also known as a “gastrointestinal tech (GI),” works alongside physicians and nurses who diagnose and treat patients for gastrointestinal issues using an endoscope. An endoscope is a small flexible tube with a light and camera attached so doctors can see inside a patient’s digestive tract. Endoscopy technicians prepare rooms and equipment before endoscopic procedures and clean up and sterilize after procedures. Ambulatory Surgery Center hours of operation are 6:30AM- 5PM. Shifts are 8 hours which are staggered to accommodate patient procedure flow. Will train to cover Inpatient Endoscopy at St. Mary’s Hospital -Madison and call required weeknights, weekends, and holidays. Job Summary: Maintains a clean/sterile field to provide support for providers during endoscopy procedures. Prepares and maintains instruments and equipment and demonstrates expertise in the operation and function of required instruments and equipment.
