About The Position

Under moderate supervision, conducts preventative maintenance on equipment, delivers specimens, etc. Reports to the Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts preventative maintenance on equipment according to center procedures; may perform minor repairs as necessary; advises appropriate staff members of equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains endoscopic equipment in a clean and orderly manner; disinfects equipment and accessories according to center procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Under the direction of physician or registered nurse, assists in performing endoscopic procedures such as biopsies, brushings, washings, dilations, polypectomies, labels specimens, and assists nurse in monitoring patient's condition.
  • Delivers specimens to appropriate locations.
  • Ensures procedure rooms and charts are maintained with necessary supplies; restocks as necessary.
  • Maintains work area and procedure rooms in a neat, clean and orderly manner according to departmental procedures.
  • Assist in the transportation of the patient to the procedure room.
  • Assist the procedure room nurse in the positioning of the patient.
  • Assist wherever directed by the circulating nurses and/or the physicians in the procedure room as the procedure is being started.
  • Assist the R.N. in the total care of the patient.
  • Transport equipment and supplies to and from areas as needed.
  • Clean and store equipment, etc.as needed.
  • Assist where indicated in the cleanup of the procedure room after the procedure.
  • Performs other work assigned by supervisor as required.
  • The job functions that require the use of disclosure of protected health information.
  • If non-routine protected health information becomes necessary, the Privacy Officer will have to approve the access.
  • Protecting the center’s hardware, software, information, and data by complying with its security/privacy policies and procedures and correctly using security technologies.
  • Attending required security/privacy training.
  • Using computer terminals and workstations in a manner that protects the security of information they access.
  • Reporting all security/privacy breaches to their supervisors, or to the Privacy Officer when their supervisors are unavailable.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of their password.
