About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician assists the physician on all procedures and serves as a resource to the use and maintenance of equipment. He/She performs analysis of technical problems and changing needs and responds appropriately to aid in support and care of endoscopy patients. The Endoscopy Technician interacts effectively and appropriately on a daily basis with all operating room staff. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Must complete and maintain current BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • One year of experience in medical environment preferred.
  • Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
  • Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
  • Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use sterile technique.
  • Knowledge in the use and care of a scope preprocessor.
  • Knowledge of appropriate technique for packaging instruments and other supplies.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required.
  • Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations
  • Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in medical environment preferred.
