About The Position

The Endoscopy Technician has responsibility to provide direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. Independent action(s) required: Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional: support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure. Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard, and identifying educational resources to meet developmental needs. Additional position requirements: Endoscopy Techs work day shift until the work of the day is complete. Individual schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules, including requirements of hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements and/or as needed. Age Specific groups served: Pediatric Adolescence Adult Geriatric Physical Requirements (includes use of assistance devices as appropriate): Physical: Lifting 50-100 lbs. Other: Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances. Activities: Prolonged standing, Frequent bending, Walking (distance), Climbing (steps, ladder, other), Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), Repetitive motion Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking Emotional: Steady pace, Frequent and intense customer interactions, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change, Fast pace environment

Requirements

  • AHA BLS Certification
  • 1 year of acute care experience in a patient care related position
  • High School Graduate or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of work experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician Program and appropriate certification based on program completed.
