As an Endoscopy Technician, you will support the physician with various exams and procedures, ensuring safety comfort, safety and education throughout the entire process. You will also assist with general patient care, such as admissions, room set up, transport and related tasks. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 5:30PM, with on-call requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • One year of experience in a hospital setting

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMT) Certifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with all endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD), ERCP, flexible sigmoidoscopies and EUS.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of all endoscopes and completion of all documentation logs and records.
  • Assist the RN with patient care, including admission of patients, setting up rooms, transporting patients, patient recovery and final cleaning of rooms.
  • Assist nurses and physicians in all aspects of GI procedures (e.g., assisting with stocking rooms with equipment and supplies and maintaining proper procedures for cleaning and storing endoscopes).
  • Change chemical sterilant and clean scope washers.
  • Assess endoscopes daily, report any damage to the director and prepare and send out scopes for repair.
  • Transport specimens.
  • Make pre-op calls to patient to obtain preliminary information
