Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Endoscopy Technician I (ET I) supports basic, diagnostic and/or therapeutic endoscopic procedures at rural, community, large and trauma facilities. This entry-level role ensures safe and effective care during procedures such as Colonoscopy, Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), Tracheostomy/Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) Placement, Enteroscopy, basic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT), Food Impaction Removal, Bravo Capsule Placement, and EndoFLIP. Interventions may include polypectomy, biopsy, dilation, cauterization, variceal banding, stent placement, overtube use, foreign body removal, and Hemospray application for GI bleeding. The ET I may be required to take independent call and assist with urgent or emergent cases. This role contributes to system-wide Surgical Services initiatives and actively participates in the Endoscopy Team Safety Plan.
