As the Endo Specialist II you will play a vital role in maintaining competent care delivery to patients in our Endoscopy Setting. In this role: You will act as a clinical resource for physicians and other hospital staff (ICU, OR, etc.) regarding instrument choices and function based on manufacturer specifications and guidelines. You will be able to participate in all procedures of varying complexity including ERCP, Spyglass, EUS, bronchoscopy and esophageal manometry. You will be able to recognize physical landmarks and demonstrate advanced skill in instrument manipulation, tissue acquisition, placement of devices, and proficiently sets up all related equipment. You will assist with and carry out functions required to safely perform endoscopy procedures, taking into consideration age appropriate care. Recognizes development of intra-procedural complications and pro-actively participates in emergency interventions. You will assume primary responsibility for eliminating out of date equipment. You will clean and disinfects scopes and other reusable equipment per protocol: performs manual pre-cleaning and activates reprocessors. You will facilitate patient flow by transporting patients in department as well as throughout hospital, assisting RNs in coordinating schedule of rooms for day. You will participate in planning next day's schedule, assessing adequacy of resources, identifying need to arrange additional staff or opportunity to flex staff off. You will identify quality improvement opportunities and high risk procedures and processes and lead other staff in quality improvement projects utilizing FOCUS-PDCA principles. You will independently prepare and test cleaning solutions and change reprocessor filters per schedule and as necessary. You will be responsible for contacting patients, providing appropriate information regarding arrival time, need for driver, etc. You will prepare the procedure room, assembles scope and other equipment based on physician preference, patient age, special needs and anticipated interventions.
