This job assists in procedures competently and professionally, understands the basic principles of anatomy and physiology associated with GI procedures, and assures appropriate handling and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years related working experience.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Proficiency with advanced therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
  • Working knowledge of radiation safety and image storage guidelines.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Experience functioning independently and in a high pressure situation.
  • Organizational and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of anatomy/physiology and medical terminology.
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) Certification obtained through IAHCSMM
  • Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER), Certification obtained through CBSPD

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians during procedures.
  • Ensures cleanliness and/disinfection of endoscopes while maintaining quality control measures.
  • Maintains all equipment.
  • Maintains required knowledge base by participating in activities of professional development.
  • Adapts to change in a positive constructive manner to assist in the day-to-day operations of the department.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
