Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, proper use of grammar, spelling, punctuation
  • Ability to adapt to a changing healthcare environment and lead by example
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills, verbal and written with strong phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Knowledge of insurance carrier requirements
  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with EMR systems.
  • Experience working with health information management systems and understanding of HIPAA compliance requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy in documentation review and data entry.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, record keeping, and office management duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional patient service while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with diverse groups of professionals and physicians
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, which may include frequent interruptions
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences within the team and the community
  • Work may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, reaching, and the ability to push or pull items weighing 30 pounds or less
  • Required to operate the computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely arrival to the office, adhering to scheduled shifts and unlocking office doors for patients
  • Greets patients in a friendly and professional manner at check-in, requests correct documents and ID cards, and scans necessary documents in the EHR.
  • Initiates and/or completes the Patient Registration process.
  • Creates, updates, and verifies patient account information, including demographic and insurance information.
  • Verifies and/or initiates referral requests, precertification/pre-authorizations, as required
  • Collects and secures co-payments, coinsurances, balances, etc. at or prior to service, verifying any required insurance referrals or waivers are signed by the patient and scanned into the chart.
  • Communicates any necessary patient paperwork to the patient and facilitates its completion with the Clinical Care Team.
  • Communicates the status of patient readiness to the clinical care team.
  • Completes, reconciles, and submits accurate End-of-Day Reconciliation (TOS), alerts Revenue Cycle Manager to any shortages or issues.
  • Answers and triages incoming calls as appropriate.
  • Manages daily procedure schedules
  • Manages and completes all relevant and applicable tasks and queues in EHR.
