Summary : The GI Assistant/CNA supports the care delivered by physicians during endoscopy procedures. Is responsible for high-level disinfection of endoscopes and maintains the highest level of competency while following professional and regulatory requirements in the processing of endoscopes. As a CNA joining ThedaCare's Endoscopy team, you will be exposed to hospital imaging procedures and GI procedural equipment at our state-of-the art Encircle Health campus. By working hand in hand with the physician during procedures, CNA's acting as a GI Assistant have the opportunity to accelerate their careers while becoming a trusted team resource and garnering a higher pay scale reserved for this specialized skillset.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Wisconsin CNA Certification preferred.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • One year of hospital experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties

Responsibilities

  • Assists providers during endoscopy procedures.
  • Retrieves specimens/biopsies under the instruction of the physician.
  • Performs high level disinfection of endoscopes in compliance with SGNA and regulatory requirements.
  • Takes vital signs, removes IVs, and provides other patient care support as delegated to by the registered nurse.
