About The Position

This position is responsible for managing all procedural and direct access referrals coming into the department. The coordinator will also be responsible for providing education and procedural instructions to patients. The endoscopy coordinator will call all patients who are scheduled for a procedure in the following two weeks. The most common procedures are endoscopy, colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, ERCP. He/she will ensure that the patient is prepared for and knowledgeable about the procedure. They will ascertain, for example, whether the patient has arranged an escort, has the prep, if necessary, has and understands the prep instructions, has had a recent change in medical condition, takes medications that would have to be stopped before the procedure etc. The endoscopy coordinator will be part of a team that now includes four members but is likely to grow. There is also extensive contact with RNs and other members of the clinical and administrative staffs. The team ethics is supportive, collaborative and respectful. There will be a multi-week training program in which the new hire will be integrated into the team and fully supported until they are prepared to make their calls independently. The location of this position is at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center - DHK, an outpatient facility across the street from NYP. We are on the 9th floor. The hours are from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • At least 2 years of healthcare or clinical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with interacting with endoscopy or ICU patients.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Chinese.
