We’re seeking a nurse with 2+ years of advanced GI experience, such as Bronchoscopy with ultrasound, Endoscopic ultrasounds, EGD and ERCP procedures. Our Registered Charge Nurses are integral members of inter-professional teams in hospitals and clinics that are committed to outstanding patient care. The role involves planning, coordinating, and directing the daily operations of the Operating room, supervising staff, and facilitating communication between the Operating Room, Interventional Radiology, and Endoscopy to provide optimal patient and family-centered care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years, OR recent completion of a re-entry nursing program.
  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience within the past five years.
  • A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • BLS certification.
  • ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire.
  • Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates and directs the daily operations of the Operating room.
  • Supervises staff and facilitates communication between the Operating Room, Interventional Radiology, and Endoscopy.
  • Acts as a change agent and leads efforts to strengthen organizational systems.
  • Demonstrates insight, judgment, and clinically sound risk-taking.
  • Role models expert communication skills to colleagues.
  • Completes employee conference, risk management and unit management reports.
  • Identifies the need for revision and evaluates the effectiveness of operational forms.
  • Provides and coordinates the resources needed within the unit.
  • Ensures compliance and adherence with stated policies and procedures.
  • Remains informed of innovative clinical trends through benchmarking and evidence-based practice.
  • Functions as charge nurse and mentors other Registered Nurses.
  • Evaluates the use of resources and cost containment activities.
  • Leads and coordinates team behavior between staff members.
  • Takes appropriate action to correct unacceptable communication/behavior.
  • Coordinates unit staffing to meet the needs of the department.
  • Identifies managerial problems and initiates tests of change.
  • Participates in preparation of regulatory agency reviews.
  • Assists in administrative activities such as budget planning.
  • Provides direction and guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Challenges and shapes systems on the unit and hospital-wide.
  • Empowers and advocates for nurses.
  • Addresses escalated patient issues and refers issues to Unit Director or Patient Advocate.
  • Monitors issues and their resolution.
  • Develops management/leadership focused in-service programs.
  • Ensures compliance with educational requirements.
  • Completes performance reviews with Nurse Manager input.
