Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year GI clinical or hospital experience preferred
  • CNA – Certified Nurses Aide upon hire preferred OR
  • MA – Medical Assistant upon hire preferred OR
  • EMT – Emergency Medical Technician upon hire preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sets up endoscopic equipment including specific individualized equipment after assessment of patient.
  • Assists physicians and RNs throughout procedures.
  • Handles instrumentation from basic to complex procedures.
  • Takes actions to reduce or eliminate patient risk.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and partnership in delivering care in the GI Lab.
  • Works with on-call team to finish call cases in most efficient, safe manner possible.
  • Operates automatic scope washers and understands the principles of high level disinfection.
  • Cleans scopes manually according to guidelines set forth per manufacturer.
  • Keeps proper records and documents accordingly in daily logs in scope processing room.
