About The Position

United Digestive’s (UD) RN-Endoscopy Pre-Call Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for the management of ensuring all endo patients are well prepped, have received and adhered to pre-op directions two weeks prior to procedure. Verify all patients have met all pre-op clearances as well as financial responsibilities. Collaboration with the appropriate endo/facility to ensure any vacant slot(s) are filled if patient reschedules or cancels to achievement optimal patient care and endo utilization.

Requirements

• Associates in Nursing required, Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
• Professional license with State of Practice
• Minimum 2 years registered nursing experience in the last 5 years required and 2-3 years of clinical experience or related field in the past 5 years preferred
• Ability to deal with patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respect
• Demonstrate caring, cooperative, professional, and respectful behavior
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills
• Ability to function independently and proactively

Nice To Haves

• Preferred experience with clinical and business systems: EPIC, ProVation, EClinicalWorks, Microsoft Office, and PowerBI.

Responsibilities

• From ECW, two weeks prior to patient’s procedure, contact each patient to ensure prep instruction have been received and are understood
• During patient contact validate BMI is in line with company acceptance level, coordinate office visit or hospital procedure with office staff and patient
• Reschedule patients as necessary
• Review, assess and critically analyze patient History & Physicals, external test and lab results to determine the appropriateness of the patient receiving anesthesia services in the Endoscopy Center. If they cannot be done at the Endoscopy Center, they are to be done in the hospital
• Coordinate with anesthesia nurse to contact patient if there are any additional needs or information to ensure anesthesia is appropriate for the patient
• Prepare patient chart: Import H&P from ECW into the ProVation Import Cardiac and Medical Clearance into ProVation If Clearance is needed make sure cardiac is listed in the reason field for procedure in eCW For DAC patients import the “Direct Access Colon Questionnaire” into ProVation and make sure colonoscopy order has been entered into eCW, if order is missing enter one on behalf of the Physician
• Review providers endo schedules and coordinate to appropriate leaders of the respective location to ensure all slots are filled
• Optimizes talents, skills, and abilities to achieve excellence in meeting and exceeding provider’s expectations
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
