About The Position

This position will serve as the Ending the HIV Epidemic (EHE) Planning and Communications Specialist for the Ryan White/HIV Services Program (RWSP).  This position will be responsible for providing support, both administrative and programmatic, to our EHE Prevention and Planning work and the Marion County EHE Task Force.  This position includes regular communication with subrecipients and community partners through various channels, including email, newsletters, Basecamp, the program website, in-person and virtual meetings, and Task Force social media platforms. This position will be funded through CDC Integrated HIV Programs for Health Departments to Support Ending the HIV Epidemic in the United States grants through the Indiana Department of Health. Continued employment is contingent upon receipt of the grant.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in public health, communications, or social services field; or six years related experience or training; equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and information to identify problems and develop potential corrective actions.
  • Perform assigned tasks independently demonstrating initiative and accountability 
  • Ability to apply an innovative mindset to develop solutions and improve program processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years or more experience in project management, program planning, and evaluation is preferred.
  • Experience in working with grants or in grant writing.
  • Experience in public speaking and group facilitation

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Task Force and Steering Committee, including establishing guidelines that ensure meaningful consumer and community participation, and actively recruiting appropriate members.
  • Prepares and disseminates agendas, minutes, and other appropriate materials for Task Force, Steering Committee, and one-on-one meetings with subrecipients.
  • Supports the MCPHD vision and mission through department presence in the community.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and assists in mobilizing community partnerships, including nontraditional partners, to identify and address health challenges affecting the populations served.
  • Provides education on the goals, strategies, and initiatives of Ending the HIV Epidemic, while actively sharing program updates and fostering engagement among community partners.
  • Establishes and maintains effective lines of communication and collaboration with the community, priority populations, and other program areas within the MCPHD.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees the social media strategy for the EHE Task Force, in collaboration with the HIV Messaging Specialist, including producing content that supports committee activities, planning initiatives, and work group efforts.
  • Participates in public health emergency preparedness exercises and response to public health emergencies, as directed.
  • Participates in three H.O.P.E. events per year.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Serve on appropriate committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Assist with program-focused projects, reports, and initiatives to support overall program operations and organizational objectives.
  • Provides administrative support, including reviewing program related documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance.
  • Participation in Health Fairs.
