EMT: Day Shift: $20.00/hour Overnight Shift: $21.50/hour Duties and Responsibilities: Provides BLS patient care in accordance with established procedures and prescribed local protocols and clinical practices. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of current EMT standards of care, including equipment function and use. Complies with safety standards to assure safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment. Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues, EMS Representatives, hospitals and public. Interact professionally with members of the public and/or family members present Maintains units and equipment in a clean, organized and ready condition after each response. Reports equipment damage or malfunctions as prescribed. Maintaining a clean and complete uniform, personal hygiene, and professional, pleasant and polite demeanor to all persons with whom the individual comes in contact with while on duty. Responsible for other related duties as defined by the Hospital, Freestanding ED admin, and approved by the MCT Medical Director and Hospital Administration Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or general educations degree (GED) Possess analytical skills and the capability of applying them effectively in stressful situations Ability to prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient Ability to act independently in a constantly changing environment Maintain composure while working in stressful situations Capable of adapting to situations that may contain violence and emotional instability in a multicultural setting All personnel must be certified by the Hospital educational program to work inside the Freestanding ED or Hospital ED as part of the hospital emergency department team. This includes completion of all onboarding and training requirements established by the facility for onsite vendors. Onsite personnel must comply with all policies, procedures, and processes established by the hospital system to which they are assigned. All personnel who participate in the Freestanding ED and Hospital ED program must pass the competencies as deemed appropriate by the Hospital. Failure to achieve and maintain the appropriate certification disqualifies any employee from participating in this program. Additional Requirements: Successfully pass a background investigation Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen Must be able to provide a current negative PPD test results Must have a clean DMV record Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Must demonstrate a compassionate attitude towards all customers, their friends and family, and your coworkers Must maintain current industry standards through continuing education Licenses and Certifications (must be valid, current and/or in good standing) Valid Driver’s License State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification CPR Certification (American Heart Association, BLS for Healthcare Provider or American Red Cross CPR for Professional Rescuers) Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) if driver certified Competencies: Competency in Basic Life Support skills as defined by State, Medical Director(s) and Medical Standard. Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform the following tasks: Walk - frequently, up to 12 hours per day. Run - infrequently, 1-2 minutes per day. Stand - frequently, up to 12 hours per day. Sit - frequently, up to 10 hours per day. Kneel - frequently, 10-15 times per day. Bend - frequently, 20+ times per day. Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 250 Lbs. infrequently (1-3 times per shift) Must be able to lift, push, pull, carry 150 Lbs. frequently (5-10 times per shift) Must have ability to step up and/ or climb over obstacles Must be able to climb stairs while carrying up to 150 Lbs. Must have adequate hearing acuity to perform job tasks Must have adequate vision (with corrective lenses if needed) to clearly distinguish colors, shapes, distances, etc. Must have adequate hand and finger dexterity to grip and hold both large and small items Must have adequate hand and arm strength to grip and lift heavy objects
