About The Position

The EMT is a member of the medical care team trained and certified to render supportive care to the patient at the scene of accidental injury or sudden illness. Transporting patients to the hospital when appropriate and begin corrective treatment as directed under State Protocol or instructed by Medical Command.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Must possess current Licensure as required by state where services are being provided: OH: Emergency Medical Technician through OH Emergency Medical Services WV: Emergency Medical Technician through WV Office of Emergency Medical Services
  • Nationally registered as Emergency Medical Technician as required by state board: WV: Emergency Medical Technician through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (Unless state license is State License Only (SLO)
  • Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operations Course.
  • Ability to be scheduled for work based on operational needs of the hospital.
  • Possess the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests.
  • Cognizant of environmental factors, infection control issues and maintains a safe environment for patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for prompt and efficient response to calls.
  • Responsible for determining the extent and nature of injuries, and efficient care of the patient prior to transfer to health care facility.
  • Responsible for assisting in removal of victims from scene of accident.
  • Responsible for safe and efficient patient transport with continued care of the patient en-route to the hospital.
  • Responsible for assisting with vehicle maintenance, ambulance equipment and replenishes supplies.
