About The Position

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at RWJBarnabas Health will provide Basic Life Support (BLS) services to patients, ensuring high-quality emergency care. This role offers opportunities for advancement from BLS to Advanced Life Support (ALS) through the Training Center, along with free continuing education credits for recertification. The position is available in full-time, part-time, and per diem capacities, with a focus on delivering compassionate and professional patient care.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School Graduate or GED.
• Current Driver's License and must satisfy vehicle insurance requirements.
• New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, or National Registry EMT Certification.
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider (CPR).
• Hazmat Awareness Certification.
• Must possess ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800 certifications.
• Completion of Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training.

Nice To Haves

• PHTLS/ITLS certification.
• Associate Degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) services to patients.
• Conduct self in a professional and compassionate manner at all times.
• Communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Notify Supervisor of any deficiencies regarding maintenance, equipment, or supplies.
• Provide treatment in accordance with established patient care protocols.
• Operate department vehicles in compliance with NJ Motor Vehicle Laws and MH driving policies.
• Complete patient care documentation in accordance with MH Documentation Procedure.
• Perform routine duties to ensure safety and facilitate patient care, including vehicle inspections and compliance with health requirements.
• Interact professionally with partners, patients, management, and public safety personnel.
• Complete department-specific continuing education programs as required.
