Responsibilities: This position requires assessment, coordination, and prioritization of care of a patient upon HPMT staff arrival. Responsibilities include quickly coordinating care of patients in order to expedite treatment and/or transportation to the appropriate receiving facility or patient's home. Communicating and interacting with other medical staff, EMS, fire, and police personnel, as necessary, and observing, participating and managing overall patient care to facilitate care and resolve issues or potential problems. The EMT may provide work direction to other basic care providers; perform and document dependent functions such as carrying out EMS Medical Directors medical orders and performing diagnostic and treatment procedures; providing a safe environment; coordinate, communicate, interpret, and explain patient care services to the patient, family, EMS personnel and health professionals. The EMT will determine the most appropriate and safest way of transporting patient to the destination. The EMT will demonstrate safe driving skills, and communicate with dispatch and/or receiving facility in a professional manner.
