About The Position

The position of Ambulance Based EMT-I involves maintaining and operating an emergency medical vehicle for the safe transportation of emergency and non-emergency patients for Albuquerque Ambulance Service of Presbyterian Healthcare Services. The EMT-I will provide patient care within their scope of practice and licensure at the scene of emergency or non-emergency calls, and is expected to attend at least 50% of all non-emergency prescheduled transports appropriate to their scope of practice and licensure. This is a full-time opportunity with varied days and hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Completion of the formal Emergency Medical Technicians-Intermediate (EMT-I) course.
  • Current license issued by the State of New Mexico Emergency Medical Service Bureau as an EMT-I.
  • Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Completion of a PHS Non-Licensed Assistive Personnel course or similar training required prior to entering classification.
  • Formal medical technician or military training preferred.
  • Maintain annual current department competencies and Employee Health Requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and operate an emergency medical vehicle for safe transportation of emergency and non-emergency patients.
  • Assist Paramedic in providing emergency pre-hospital care for injured or ill patients at basic and intermediate levels.
  • Attend at least 50% of all requests for services appropriate to scope of practice and licensure.
  • Ensure quality charting through adherence to RESCUE narrative components and provide accurate demographics for billing.
  • Maintain positive communications and collaboration with physicians and staff regarding patient care.
  • Meet operational performance measures related to time on task components.
  • Perform other functions as required.
