About The Position

The EMT I position at PRESNow-ABQ involves performing advanced patient care procedures under the supervision of licensed medical professionals. This full-time position requires a commitment to patient care and teamwork within the Emergency Department and Urgent Care settings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of the formal Emergency Medical Technicians-Intermediate (EMT-I) course is required.
• Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required.
• Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions is required.
• 1-2 years experience preferred, but not required.

Nice To Haves

• Formal medical technician or military training preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Monitors patients and collects information for accurate documentation in the patient record.
• Transports patients and documents actions on patient records.
• Collects and records vital signs in patient records.
• Provides simple patient teaching and discharge instructions.
• Inserts and removes peripheral intravenous therapy lines under the direction of a physician.
• Performs phlebotomy and initiates IV fluid therapy.
• Performs wound care, dressing changes, and sutures or staples wounds under the direction of a physician.
• Prepares patients for surgery and assists with sterile procedures.
• Assists with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, and walking patients.
• Cleans and stores equipment, and ensures cleanliness of nutrition areas and general unit.
