The EMT I (Basic) position is responsible for providing basic emergency medical care and transportation for critically ill and injured patients. This role involves adhering to traffic regulations while operating emergency vehicles, maintaining accurate patient care records, and ensuring the readiness of medical supplies and equipment. The EMT will also assist with various duties as assigned by the shift supervisor, promote patient safety, and foster a team-oriented environment.

  • Provide basic emergency medical care to critically ill and injured patients.
  • Transport patients who access the EMS system.
  • Observe traffic ordinances and regulations during emergency vehicle operation.
  • Maintain accurate PCR documentation and supportive documentation.
  • Conduct daily maintenance and supply checks, replacing fluids and supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with cleaning the building and trucks as assigned by the shift supervisor.
  • Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient experiences.
  • Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic EMT/driver certification and other required credentialing.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age with a good driving record.
  • Experience in emergency medical services is helpful.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the job.
  • Must pass the MedPAT (Medical Physical Agility Test) annually.
  • Must obtain EVOC certification prior to hire date and maintain it.
  • Completion of ICS courses 100, 200, 700, 701, 702, 703, 704, 800, and CPR.
  • Degree in a related field preferred.
