About The Position

This part-time, hourly position supports the EMT instructor on an as-needed basis, providing hands-on instruction, skill development, and reinforcement to students enrolled in the EMT program at CATEC.

Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use instructional technologies
• Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
• Current EMS certification
• Familiarity with the National EMS Education Standards
• Strong knowledge of EMT course content and emergency medical protocols
• Effective instructional and communication skills
• Ability to assess student learning and provide constructive feedback
• Familiarity with the National EMS Education Standards and VA OEMS regulations
• Professionalism and a commitment to student-centered instruction
• Current EMT certification or higher for a minimum of 1 year
• National Registry EMT certification (NREMT) or higher for a minimum of 1 year
• 1–3 years of progressive field experience in an emergency medical setting
• Current VA OEMS-approved CPR certification

Nice To Haves

• Teaching or EMS Education Coordinator experience preferred
• Experience working in diverse educational environments
• Current AHA CPR Instructor preferred

Responsibilities

• Deliver lab instruction and skill-based assessments aligned with the EMT curriculum
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to support mastery of skills
• Maintain accurate documentation of student competencies and attendance
• Ensure compliance with Virginia OEMS and program accreditation standards
• Collaborate with the instructor to support student success
