About The Position

The position involves responding to ambulance calls and providing patient care, performing vehicle maintenance, and assisting in the Emergency Room. The role requires maintaining a positive public image and adhering to safety and health policies.

Requirements

• Certified Iowa EMT.
• Valid IA Class C driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• BLS certification.
• Mandatory Reporter certification.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
• Effective communication skills with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
• Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Must pass pre-hire physical agility test.
• Ability to take direction.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care.
• Maintains positive public image.
• Performs vehicle maintenance: Checks vehicles and performs maintenance or reports to head mechanic.
• Provides documentation on patient care after each ambulance call and in ER as needed.
• Transports sick or injured persons to hospital, or convalescents to destination, avoiding sudden motions detrimental to patients.
• Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.
