About The Position

MU Health Care is looking for a dedicated and dynamic Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to join our team! The ideal candidate is a compassionate professional with a strong ability to assess and respond to medical emergencies swiftly and effectively. We're seeking someone with excellent patient care skills who is proficient in performing Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures and adept at using medical equipment. If you are meticulous, reliable, and passionate about maintaining the readiness of emergency vehicles and working seamlessly within the local EMS system, this role is perfect for you. We're also looking for a collaborative team player who can support paramedic partners and handle Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipment with confidence. Requirements

  • EMT licensure by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
  • Chauffeur driver license; class E or higher for Missouri residents.
  • Successful completion of the 40-hour EMT-Dispatching or comparable course within one (1) year of hiring may be necessary for some positions.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient medical history and recent history of illness or injury.
  • Perform a physical assessment to determine the condition of the patient.
  • Implement care and perform ongoing assessments to gauge the effectiveness of treatments and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Administer patient care to the extent of University Ambulance protocols for BLS care.
  • Maintain readiness ensuring vehicles are in a state of readiness including being stocked and cleaned.
  • Operate an Emergency Vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Provide assistance to Paramedic partners.
  • Prepare written reports that document the details of ambulance calls for service.
