Requirements

• 1 year of experience as an EMT Basic preferred.
• High School Diploma / GED required.
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an EMT/B.
• Licensed in Louisiana as an EMT/B.
• Current Chauffer's license or equivalent.
• Defensive Driving certification.
• Haz-Mat certification.
• BCLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Responds to dispatch information and drives specially equipped emergency vehicles to specified locations.
• Stabilizes ill or injured persons by extricating them, rendering first aid, and relaying their status to medical personnel.
• Utilizes medical equipment and procedures including defibrillators, EKG monitors, oxygen and suction devices, and intravenous fluids.
• Recognizes deviations or changes in the patient's health due to their condition and treatment.
• Maintains vehicles, supplies, communications equipment, and medical equipment in accordance with applicable standards.
• Keeps vehicles and equipment clean, organized, stocked, and sanitized before each trip.
• Uses proper PPE when sanitizing or cleaning spills.
• Documents activities regarding patient care and billing to ensure appropriate information is available.
