The position involves performing level life support, transport, stabilization procedures, and emergency medical care at the Basic Level in the Emergency Services program of the County. The employee is responsible for responding to emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons, and transporting them to medical appointments and facilities. The work includes ensuring quality emergency patient care standards, availability of proper equipment and treatment, and making sound judgment and treatment decisions. The role is subject to various environmental conditions and hazards associated with emergency medical work, including exposure to blood and compliance with OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. The employee works under the supervision of a Shift or Program Supervisor and a Paramedic or Intermediate on assigned calls, with evaluations based on peer review, observation, and public feedback.
