What You’ll Do: As an EMT-B at Paramedic Services of Illinois, you will be an integral part of our team, responding to emergency calls and providing essential medical care to patients in need. Respond promptly to emergency calls from dispatch centers. Assess the scene of an emergency to ensure the safety of all parties involved. Conduct primary and secondary assessments of patients to determine the nature and extent of illness or injury. Obtain and record patient medical history, vital signs, and other relevant information. Administer basic life support procedures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) usage, and airway management. Control bleeding, treat wounds, and perform splinting for fractures. Safely transport patients to medical facilities using ambulances or other emergency vehicles. Monitor and care for patients during transportation, maintaining communication with medical personnel at the receiving facility. Complete and submit detailed patient care reports and other required documentation accurately and promptly. Maintain records of ambulance operations and supplies. Inspect, clean, and maintain emergency medical equipment and supplies. Ensure the ambulance is clean, well-stocked, and in good working order. Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare providers. Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, and other first responders as necessary. Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain certification and stay updated on the latest medical practices and protocols. Attend refresher courses and continuing education sessions as required by certification boards and employers. Educate the public on safety, first aid, and emergency response techniques. Participate in community outreach programs and health fairs.
