Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a vocational training program as an Emergency Medical Technician, formally known as EMT- Basic.
  • Current Georgia EMT (formally EMT-Basic) certification.
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Current AHA/ARC BLS certification.
  • CPT training and PEARS within 9 months of hire.
  • FAST-ED stroke scale or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Have the physical ability to perform the job as determined by a physical agility performance evaluation.
  • Have the ability to communicate both orally and in writing in English and to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees, volunteers and management.
  • Be able to effectively perform prolonged work under adverse emergency conditions involving physical and mental stress.
  • Be able to think clearly and use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations, which may occur.
  • Be able to utilize diagnostic equipment as well as patient care equipment.
  • Be able to utilize personal protective equipment such as gloves, gown, mask, etc.
