Monroe Ambulance is seeking newly certified or/and experienced full time Emergency Medical Technicians to join our growing team of frontline staff.

Requirements

  • Meet New York State functional position for EMT/AEMT
  • Communicate effectively in a professional manner
  • Lift, carry and balance up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance)
  • Interpret oral, written and diagnostic instructions
  • Use good judgment and remain calm in high stress situations
  • Be unaffected by loud noises and flashing lights
  • Function efficiently without interruption throughout an entire work shift
  • Read English language and manuals
  • Navigate major arterial roadways and understand the location of major medical facilities
  • Accurately discern street signs and addresses
  • Interview patients, patient family members, and bystanders
  • Document, in writing, all relevant information in prescribed format considering legal ramifications of such
  • Converse, in English, with coworkers and hospital staff regarding the status of the patient

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality, compassionate patient care in accordance with NYS collaborative protocols and MLREMS performance care bundles
  • Check all equipment for readiness
  • Ensure ambulance is in operable condition
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of ambulance and gear
  • Ensure availability of equipment and supplies
  • Approach all patients, family members, and bystanders with compassion
  • Attend regular CMEs throughout the year to maintain a high level of training and proficiency
  • Conduct themselves with focus on safety for self, patient, teammates, and the public
  • Adhere to New York State Vehicle and Traffic laws and all Monroe Ambulance Driver policies while operating company owned vehicles
  • Adhere to Monroe Ambulance personal protection equipment policies
  • Assist with the safe lifting, carrying and loading of patients into the ambulance
  • Report any concerns regarding the safety of their assigned vehicle immediately
  • Show up for all scheduled shifts on time, in full uniform, ready for duty
  • Complete start of shift duties within 20 minutes of start of shift time
  • Complete all end of shift duties 100% of the time
  • Act in strict accordance with Monroe Ambulance’s Code of Conduct
  • Treat all company owned equipment with respect
  • Represent the company internally and externally in a professional manner
  • Create an inclusive teamworking environment
  • Promote a culture of teamwork by demonstrating flexibility and readiness to undertake additional tasks as required
  • Complete and submit vehicle and equipment check sheets at the start of every shift
  • Complete patient care records based on Monroe Ambulances documentation standards
  • Complete all incident reports, CPS reports, and vehicle problem reports prior to punching out at the end of the shift
  • Acknowledge and respond to QA flags in a timely and professional manner
