The Role: EMS Technician II As an EMS Technician II, you install, configure, and maintain electrical power monitoring systems across Switch data centers. You troubleshoot monitoring devices, maintain system documentation, and verify reliable EPMS performance. This role supports live environments and site expansions through disciplined execution and adherence to established procedures. Your work directly supports infrastructure visibility and operational reliability.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting electrical or communications equipment.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems in a data center or industrial environment.
  • Understanding of communication protocols such as Modbus and SNMP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in active data center environments.
  • Willingness to travel locally, domestically, or internationally as required.
  • You follow established procedures and safety protocols in mission-critical environments.
  • You troubleshoot methodically and escalate issues appropriately.
  • You communicate clearly with internal teams and contractors.
  • You work independently within defined systems.
  • You maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • You collaborate effectively across technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant technical certifications.
  • Associate or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field, or equivalent technical training.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain electrical power monitoring systems and related databases.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair monitoring devices and field equipment.
  • Perform routine system checks to verify EPMS functionality.
  • Review electrical drawings to confirm device placement and configuration.
  • Maintain networking and administrative documentation for EPMS devices.
  • Provide remote technical support to other sites when required.
  • Support EPMS deployments during site expansions, including travel as needed.
  • Assist with integration between EPMS, BMS, and environmental control systems.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for non-standard or complex deployments.
  • Maintain accurate work orders, service logs, and utilization reports.
  • Provide digital escort support for vendors working on EPMS systems.
