About The Position

An Energy Management System (EMS) Operation Technology (OT) Senior Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining EMS networked systems such as virtual machines, network switches, WAN Firewalls, local firewalls and Azure cloud network. In addition to equipment deployments, this position will also manage and maintain the cloud infrastructure, utilized by the production support team for fleet diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in system commissioning activities, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Site Acceptance tests (SATs) and other setup and configuration activities.
  • Be able to deploy OT systems’ redundancy configuration in accordance with product management diagrams.
  • Support the setting up of new server racks and hardware installation, including the routing and termination of Ethernet and fiber-optic cabling.
  • Provide support for changing server hardware components such as memory sticks, hard drives, or any PCI cards or server power supplies.
  • Provide support on setting up new firewall configurations and maintaining existing configuration including VLAN, gateway, interfaces, access control rules, system objects and VPNs.
  • Provide support on establishing IPSEC tunnels on Azure for site-to-site access traversing several network layers.
  • Support existing and new configuration of software defined networking using Fortigate equipment.
  • Provide support on troubleshooting issues on existing deployment when network problems arise.
  • Provide support on reviewing network architectures when changes are needed and documenting them on a change control log.
  • Maintain assets, software and user inventories.
  • Maintaining a version control on existing network configuration and new deployments using GIT.
  • Provide support on monitoring and troubleshooting network performance issues.
  • Develop & Maintain documentation on configuration and troubleshooting steps.
  • Write knowledge artifacts to train other members of the SCADA/OT team on different networking concepts to level up knowledge.
  • Strong understanding of the OSI model, layer 2 and layer 3.
  • Support the installation of new firmware updates to network equipment.
  • Maintain & Configure Virtual Machines using VMware vCenter to provision Ubuntu and Windows servers.
  • Maintain & Configure WSUS Windows Security Patches centralized server.
  • Maintain & Configurate Linux repository for security patches.
  • Admin for Cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS, or GCP (Azure preferred).
  • Support hardware installation efforts including mounting equipment on server rails, running ethernet cables and fiber optic cables, and certifying communication using cable testers.
  • Maintain & Configure Windows Domain Controller, Active Directory, and Group policies for new and existing EMS Systems. Configure Hypervisors with VMWare products such as vSphere and vCenter.
  • Configure and maintain hypervisors using Hyper-V.
  • Develop and maintain design, solution, and component specifications that are part of the EMS platform, specifically related to Network Design.
  • Support in the resolution of installation, commissioning, and operational issues.
  • Review/coordinate design and other technical information from suppliers and contractors.
