About The Position

The EMS Instructor at Mercyhealth is responsible for providing education and training to emergency care providers across various disciplines. This role involves course development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional methods, ensuring adherence to state and national guidelines. The instructor will engage learners through effective communication and mentorship, while also demonstrating a commitment to quality service and teamwork within the organization.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a University or Community College with a degree or certificate in an Emergency Care discipline (e.g., EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, RN, PA, DO, MD, Law Enforcement).
  • Two years of experience providing Emergency Care at the Wisconsin Licensed level.
  • Required certification applicable to training assigned (e.g., State of Wisconsin Licensed Emergency Care Provider).
  • State of Wisconsin Certified EMS Instructor II or working toward completion preferred.
  • CPR certification within 90 days.
  • Certified American Heart Association Instructor in at least one level (BLS, ACLS, PALS) within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred or enrolled in BSN program.
  • Experience in teaching or training emergency care providers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide education and training to all disciplines of emergency care providers under the supervision of the EMS Unit Supervisor/EMS Coordinator.
  • Develop EMT, AEMT, Paramedic, and AHA courses following state and national guidelines.
  • Deliver quality instruction across all learning domains: Cognitive, Psychomotor, and Affective.
  • Apply principles of Adult Learning in the classroom setting.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for course participants and monitor their progress.
  • Engage learners and provide timely feedback.
  • Mentor and supervise novice instructors.
  • Instruct in at least one American Heart Association class (BLS, ACLS, PALS).
  • Document and maintain accurate class records.
  • Teach at various times and locations based on student demand.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service and effective interaction with students and colleagues.
