About The Position

The position of IFT-RN involves the knowledge of in-depth pathophysiologic concepts, pharmacological applications, and utilization of advanced medical skills. The IFT-RN provides high-quality, advanced critical care to all patients by utilizing standards and guidelines established by Survival Flight EMS and its Medical Directors. Critical thinking, independent decision-making, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential characteristics and skills that the Paramedic must possess to be successful in this role. The IFT-RN functions as a professional representative of Survival Flight EMS and shall always support and uphold the mission, vision, and values of Survival Flight while ensuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum.

Requirements

  • Current State Certification in State(s) applying to work
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, Nationally Recognized Trauma Course (i.e., ITLS or PHTLS)
  • Physically capable of performing their duties (with reasonable accommodation)
  • Current Valid State Driver's License with a good driving record
  • At least (21) years of age
  • Minimum of (2) years of driving
  • A vigorous, ongoing continuing education program is necessary to fulfill the expansive knowledge base that is required of this position.
  • Participation in and successful completion of annual clinical skills.
  • Participate and complete monthly continuing education activities to maintain all certifications and duty status.
  • Develop and achieve individual, value-adding, goals written annually by the company.
  • Maintain current documentation of certifications and participate in all training related to vehicle operations, safety, OSHA, HIPAA, and advanced procedures.
  • Remains current and proficient with all equipment and procedures.
  • Remains current with National and/or State certifications as well as BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, or equivalent and Nationally recognized Trauma Courses (i.e., ITLS or PHTLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a health-related field
  • Current National Registry Paramedic
  • Previous Critical Care or ALS transport experience
  • CCEMT-P, CCP-C, or FP-C certification
  • Instructor status in any/all relevant courses

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a positive customer service approach with all customers and potential customers.
  • Maintain and facilitate a cooperative and team-oriented working relationship with co-workers.
  • Keep a neat and professional appearance while on duty and during any functions where Survival Flight EMS is represented.
  • Promote effective communication by utilizing good communication in a respectful manner.
  • Serve as a role model, educator, and clinical resource.
  • Provide high-quality, advanced critical care by utilizing assessment, triage, and treatment based on established program guidelines and current industry data and best practices.
  • Be proficient in assessing the nature and extent of illness or injury.
  • Establish and prioritize care needed for safe transport of the critical patient.
  • Work collaboratively with a partner to develop and carry out appropriate patient care before and during transport.
  • Performs advanced skills and procedures within the scope of practice and as outlined by the established Survival Flight EMS protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain thorough and complete documentation of patient care. Documentation will accurately reflect assessment and interventions.
  • Complete patient care records within 12 hours of initial patient contact and provide receiving facility with a completed care record.
  • Remain current and proficient with all equipment and procedures.
  • Participation in and successful completion of annual clinical skills.
  • Participate and complete monthly continuing education activities to maintain all certifications and duty status.
  • Develop and achieve individual, value-adding, goals written annually by the company.
  • Maintain current documentation of certifications and participate in all training related to vehicle operations, safety, OSHA, HIPAA, and advanced procedures.
  • Remains current and proficient with all equipment and procedures.

  • Begin each shift by inspecting equipment and supplies onboard the ambulance.
  • Assure proper maintenance, sanitation, and retrieval of Survival Flight EMS equipment.
  • Maintain adequate supplies onboard the ambulance to deliver patient care.
  • Keep ambulance clean and orderly to ensure rapid response to all transport requests.
  • Report all equipment failures immediately and complete proper documentation of failed equipment in a timely manner.
  • Will be responsible for the proper use and application of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to protective masks, protective gear, respirators, and all necessary protective measures.
  • Complies with safety standards to assure the safety of self, medical personnel, patient, and equipment.
  • Participate in and complete facility and referring agency follow-up within a reasonable time at the end of calls.
  • Respond promptly to dispatching communications providing two (2) minutes or less response time to all emergencies.
  • Attends and participates in meetings according to established departmental schedule.
  • Complete all assigned daily and monthly base duties and tasks.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and performs all care with respect for patient dignity.
  • Ensure adherence to the Survival Flight EMS Policy and Procedure Manual, Clinical Operations Guidelines Manual, and Employee Handbook.
  • Help to develop standards and guidelines related to the program as assigned.
  • Support continuity of service through flexibility in scheduling and base assignment.
  • Be prepared and prompt in reporting for scheduled shifts assigned.
  • Report to work 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure a smooth transition to an on-duty crew member.
  • Participates in planned outreach and marketing activities.
  • Acts as a preceptor and/or participates in the orientation of new employees and students as assigned.
  • Acts as a liaison and communicates program goals and objectives.
  • Participates regularly in departmental activities, projects, and initiatives.
  • Undertakes and maintains projects as assigned.
