The EMS Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and promoting services for the Cullman Emergency Medical Services (CEMS). This role serves as a liaison between various stakeholders, including the ambulance service E911 board, city and county officials, and non-profit agencies. The EMS Director is expected to demonstrate leadership, mentor department supervisors, monitor operational reports, and develop performance improvements while ensuring patient safety and quality of care.

  • Plan, organize, and promote services for CEMS.
  • Serve as a liaison between the ambulance service E911 board, EMA, city and county officials, and volunteer fire departments.
  • Demonstrate CRMC leadership standards and mentor department supervisors.
  • Monitor monthly operation reports and productivity, developing performance improvements.
  • Develop and monitor the annual department budget.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to promote timely delivery of care and coordination of services.
  • Work with the medical director to develop protocols and training for CEMS.
  • Encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.
  • Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.
  • Associates degree in EMS required; BS is preferred.
  • Maintain and hold an Alabama Critical Care Paramedic License.
  • Proficient in ACLS, PALS, BLS, PHTLS, EVOC/EVD, Pre-hospital Critical Care Medicine.
  • Pass MEDPat (Medic Physical Ability Test) annually.
  • ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800 certifications required.
  • 5 years as a paramedic in a busy 911 response area.
  • 2 years of EMS supervisor or EMS Director experience preferred.
  • Background in Emergency Management Training in healthcare preferred.
