The position reports to the Emergency Services Director and is the primary responder to all major incidents in the county while on duty, including brush fires, structure fires, traffic crashes, and EMS calls. The role includes staffing an EMS unit when the department is short-staffed or overwhelmed by call load. The individual will assume command of all multi-unit incidents in the absence of the Director and will coordinate and oversee the Community Paramedicine program, including response, training, patient enrollment, reporting, and networking with county stakeholders. The position also involves working with the Emergency Services Director and Medical Director to ensure best practices for the community paramedicine program, maintaining training and quality assurance programs for the EMS department and staff, and providing on-call services during nights and weekends. The individual will ensure staffing minimums are maintained, coordinate with the Volunteer Fire Department, establish training schedules, participate in public relations events, and manage budget and grant opportunities. Other administrative and emergency response duties may be assigned.
