The position involves assisting individuals with disabilities to secure and maintain employment. This includes supporting the individual in their new position while providing on-the-job training and follow-up services to help them maintain their role. The job requires a compassionate and conscientious approach to ensure clients succeed in their employment endeavors.

  • Conduct job development functions including cold calling, personal visits to potential job sites, and situational assessments.
  • Assess individuals for qualifications and match them to job openings.
  • Act as the primary trainer/support person for assigned individuals, ensuring satisfactory job performance during training.
  • Gradually withdraw support to promote client independence, setting up necessary natural support services.
  • Maintain service coordination with other service providers as appropriate.
  • Follow up with clients according to program requirements to ensure job success.
  • Document required information in a timely manner for reporting and accountability.
  • Participate in staff meetings as directed by the supervisor.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and cover clients of co-workers when necessary.
  • Drive clients to appointments and job sites in a company-owned vehicle as needed.
  • Perform other relevant tasks as requested by the supervisor.
  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED plus two years vocational or human services work experience.
  • Prefer college/technical school/university degree in the Human Services field plus a minimum of 6 months of related work experience.
  • Knowledge of appropriate communication and interaction with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of interacting with individuals with intellectual/developmental/physical disabilities.
  • Mastery of the English language, basic math skills, and typical office computer software.
  • Highly refined people and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility in working non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
